Brad Houff – Founder & Executive Director – Brad has over 25 years of experience in the areas of spiritual formation and leadership development. For nine years he served as the Pastor of Community & Spiritual Formation at Hope Church in Richmond, VA. Prior to that, he was on staff with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship for 16 years – first as a Campus Minister at Wake Forest University and then as an Area Director for campuses in Eastern Virginia. He holds degrees from the College of William & Mary and from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He is also a graduate of Renovare’s Institute for Christian Spiritual Formation.
Marmi Houff – Founder & Retreat Leader – Marmi also has over 25 years of ministry experience. The first half of that time was with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship – serving as both a Campus Minister and an Area Director. The second half of that time has been in the area of Spiritual Formation – leading groups and retreats and providing one-on-one spiritual direction. She spent six years under the leadership of Ruth Haley Barton at The Transforming Center – first as a participant and then as a member of the intercession and serving team. She has an undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University and was trained as a Spiritual Director at Richmont Graduate School.
Susan Cromer – Spiritual Director & Retreat Leader – Susan has a deep desire to help others recognize God’s love for them, to awaken worth in them. She earned a degree in Social Work in 1979 and worked with both victims and perpetrators of sexual abuse. She has served as a Bible teacher, small group leader, and retreat leader for the last 30 plus years. Currently, she serves as a volunteer with Shepherd’s Way Ministries in Richmond where she helps to feed some of Richmond’s homeless and underserved. Susan completed a two year program through Sustainable Faith to become a spiritual director. The gift of listening to others and helping them discern the movement of God in their lives has been extremely rewarding for her. Susan lives in Midlothian, VA where she offers spiritual direction in person and via phone or video call.
Kayla Allen – Spiritual Director & Retreat Leader – Kayla has over 15 years of ministry experience in the areas of spiritual formation and discipleship. For 9 years she served as a pastor at a large church in the DC metro area providing leadership to small groups, classes and retreats. Prior to that, she was on staff with the Coalition for Christian Outreach serving as a campus minister to George Mason University in partnership with a local PCUSA church. Kayla has a MA in Spiritual Formation from Portland Seminary and is a certified Spiritual Director. Currently, she lives in Charlottesville, VA where she offers spiritual direction in person, over the phone and video call. You can read more about her work at kaylaannallen.com.

Karen Wood – Board Member – Karen grew up in northern Virginia and graduated from the College of William and Mary. She received her Masters degree in Health Fitness Management from American University. Karen and her husband Hank moved to Richmond 22 years ago where they raised their three children who are now adults. Karen has taught school, managed corporate fitness programs including a cost benefit study at the Pentagon. She was on staff at Hope church from 2006-2010 directing the children’s ministry and later served on the session as an Elder. Hank and Karen are both actively involved at Hope Church. Karen currently is involved in mentoring young women, Feeding Future Leaders at Thomas Jefferson HS and Jobs For Life at the Richmond City Jail.
Steven Breedlove – Board Member – Steven is a missionary church planter in the Anglican Diocese of Christ our Hope. He is currently planting a church in Richmond, VA, and also serving as an associate priest at Redeemer Anglican Church. He is married to Courtney, and they have three children—Steven, Sam, and Claire. Courtney is a former math teacher and is currently homeschooling their children. Steven graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with a degree in Classics, and taught Greek, Latin, Rhetoric, and Philosophy at Veritas Christian Academy, a classical school in Asheville, NC. After receiving a Masters in Education Leadership from Columbia University, he served as Upper School Principal at Veritas. In 2014, he left Veritas to attend Beeson Divinity School, where he received his M.Div. in 2017. He was ordained as a priest in the Anglican Church in North America in 2017.
Robyn Almquist – Board Member – Robyn grew up in Martinsburg, WV. She graduated from WVU with a degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology and a Master’s degree in Child Development and Family Studies. She and her husband Doug have lived in Richmond for 20 years where they enjoyed raising their three sons. Robyn is currently on Staff at Hope Church where she serves as an Assistant Manager at Hope Thrift. She has enjoyed serving in other ministry areas including Hope Kids and Groups. Her involvement with the Apprentice classes offered at Hope Church began a renewed appreciation for Soul Care and Spiritual Transformation.
Drew Cleveland – Board Member – Drew is the Director of Young Adult and College Ministry at Third Church. He earned an M.Div from Princeton Theological Seminary and is a graduate of Virginia Tech. Drew learned the spiritual rhythms of life and mind at the Trinity Fellows Academy, working for the Trinity Forum in DC, church planting in Milwaukee, and cultivating philanthropic endeavors around the integration of faith, work and economic wisdom with the Kern Family Foundation. Drew is local supporter of Jobs for Life, Common Good RVA, Q Commons, and any opportunity to have a meaningful conversation around fire with a bourbon.
Joe Moore – InterVarsity Christian Fellowship – Joe lives with his wife, Patti, in Winston-Salem, NC. He graduated from James Madison University in 1977. The following fall he joined the staff of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, where he has served since. In 2006 Joe became the Director of Spiritual Formation for the Blue Ridge Region. The following year he became the National Co-Director for Spiritual Formation & Prayer. In 2016 Joe left the National Co-Director role to become the Assistant Regional Director for Spiritual Formation & Prayer for Carolinas Region. Joe has two Certificates in Spiritual Formation from Columbia Theological Seminary and from the Renovare Institute.
